Prince: A Private View

Role: Web Designer/Developer

Tools: Wordpress CMS, Adobe Suite, HTML/CSS/JS

Duration: 3 months

Project Overview

Prince: A Private View, a book showcasing never-before-seen photographs of the music icon. The website was built to visually reflect the book’s tone—elegant, intimate, and artistically vibrant—through bold imagery, sleek typography, and minimalist layout. It serves as a central hub for promotion, featuring previews of select photographs, author background, and direct links to retailers for purchase. The site also integrates embedded media and press features to support ongoing content marketing and drive engagement around the book’s launch.

Design Process

1. Content Gathering & Ideation

The project began with collecting and organizing all available materials from the author — including photographs, excerpts, and press content — to establish the creative foundation.

Using Miro, I organized early visual ideas, references, and content themes to guide the design direction. Through collaborative brainstorming sessions, we clarified the book’s visual tone, audience goals, and storytelling approach. This stage helped define how the website would reflect the intimacy and artistry of the photography while serving as a platform for promotion and sales.

2. Wireframing & Prototyping

Using insights from the ideation phase, I created low-fidelity wireframes in Figma to map out page structure, content hierarchy, and navigation flow. These evolved into high-fidelity prototypes within the same platform, allowing the client to visualize the interactive experience and provide feedback early. Iterations focused on balancing visual storytelling with usability, ensuring the design felt elegant, cohesive, and intuitive across devices.

3. Development & Launch

Once the design was approved, I built the site within the WordPress CMS, translating the final prototype into a fully responsive, easily manageable platform. This phase included integrating animations, optimizing images, and adding external purchase links to major retailers. I also implemented SEO best practices and accessibility standards to ensure the site performed smoothly, both technically and visually.
