Role: UI/UX Designer, Product Strategy

Tools: Adobe XD, HTML/CSS/JS

Duration: 6 months

Project Overview

Challenge

Many people struggle with consistency outside the gym, lacking structure, motivation, and tools to maintain a steady fitness routine from home.

Solution

Nova Fitness is a web application designed to support individuals training from home by providing health insights, personalized workouts, nutrition planning, progress tracking, and live support to make fitness more accessible and sustainable.

User Research

Brainstorming sessions and user interviews were conducted to understand the target audience. Personas developed from this research revealed three consistent priorities: personalized workouts, clear nutrition guidance, and simple progress tracking.

Competitive Analysis

An analysis of leading fitness applications uncovered significant gaps in accountability and personalization. Insights from participants highlighted opportunities for Nova Fitness to stand out by offering stronger motivation tools and a more user-centered experience.

Wireframe & Prototyping Work

The application structure was defined through a sitemap and wireframes, followed by the development of interactive prototypes in Adobe XD. Multiple user testing sessions were run, and each round of feedback informed refinements to usability and overall design.

Health Insights

The homepage was designed to highlight essential health metrics including BMI, weight, muscle mass, and heart rate. It also provides a snapshot of the user’s active workout plan and meal recommendations, offering a clear picture of overall progress.

Personalized Training

Initial iterations of the training page featured exercise icons, but testing revealed a preference for realistic visuals. The final design used a grid of high-resolution images with a progress bar and checklist functionality, which significantly improved engagement and completion rates.

Nutrition

Interview feedback emphasized the importance of structured meal guidance. The nutrition page was designed to display calorie goals and recommended meals tailored to individual fitness objectives, helping users stay consistent with their plans.

Progress Monitoring

A dedicated progress page allows users to upload weekly photos and track physical changes visually. A radar chart highlights improvements in strength across exercises, reinforcing consistency and motivation over time.

TAKEAWAYS

This project provided experience in leading the full UX process, from research to prototyping and testing. It demonstrated how small design choices—such as the use of real imagery and visual progress tracking—can directly influence user engagement. Future plans include refining UI elements further and extending the work into front-end development.
